myRIO Robotics Kit: Tufts University Internship

The goal of the myRIO Robotics Kit is to lower the "getting started" barrier required to create robotics projects with National Instruments' myRIO. The myRIO Robotics Kit provides an entry-level system for students who are new to robotics to easily build and test simple robots.

The kit contains various MakerBeam and MakerBeam compatible parts and a custom circuit board. In LabView, I created the myRIO Scope, a diagnostic tool allowing users to quickly diagnose issues they may run into with their robots.

Project Contributions

  • Designed and lasercut MakerBeam and myRIO compatible parts.

  • Developed test robots using myRIO embedded evaluation board.

  • Programmed LabVIEW VIs to assist entry level robotics students with “plug-and-play” experimentation.

  • Soldered and tested 36 circuit boards for classroom use.

Test robots

1) High-five robot; 2) Simple 4-wheeled car; 3) Ball throwing robot ; 4) Gripper robot
