A selection of commissioned projects during my tenure as Assistant Manager of the FabLab

Shelving Unit for the College of Alameda FabLab

  • Shelving unit designed to hold a printer, microwave, and electric kettle.

  • Modeled in Fusion 360 and fabricated on the ShopBot 5’x8’ 3-axis CNC mill in baltic birch for the College of Alameda FabLab.

  • Each component was designed parametrically for optimal fit to accommodate differences in wood thickness.

  • The panels were laid flat for milling, CAM and feeds and speeds calculated, dogbones added in internal corner for slot fitting, then finished and assembled.

Gift for the Belden Family

  • Designed in Fusion 360 and milled on the ShopBot 3-axis CNC in baltic birch.

  • Details were CNC’d with progressively smaller end-mills to remove material, then refine.

  • The color gradient was created with increased layers of wood stain on the dark areas.
